Welding
The process of joining to similar or dissimilar material metals by heat apply between them and this process is known as "welding". The melting point of filler metal should be lesser than the base metal in welding. The necessity of welding is tow or more metals and produce continuity of homogeneous material and produce leak proof joints and household requirement like railings, gates etc.
Welding classify two types
1. Plastic welding or pressure welding
2. Fusion welding
1. Plastic welding process
The metal to be jointed by heated plastic state and external pressure apply in plastic welding process.
2. Fusion welding process
The metal to be joined by heated molten metal state and allowed in solidify takes place in fusion welding process.
1.1. Arc welding
In this Process fusion welding process is used. The two metals are joined by heating an electric arc to melt temperature and solidify.Filler may be used.
1.2 Resistance welding
In this process plastic welding process is used. The two metals are joined by passing low voltage and very high current through the joint which metals due to their contact resistance. No filler used.
1.3. Solid state welding
In this process plastic welding process used. The two metals are joined by heating the metal below its melting point temperature and then external pressure applied.
1.4. Radiant Energy welding
In this process fusion welding is used. In this process a beam of electron strikess the surfaces to be joined and produces heat which causes the metals to melt.
1.5. Thermo chemical welding
In this process plastic welding process used. The two metals are joined by heat of thermit reaction and external pressure applied.
1.6. Gas welding
In this process fusion welding process used. The two metals are joined by burning a combustible gas with air in a concentrated flame of high temperature. Filler may be used.
Advantages of welding
1.To repair broken metal
2. Low manufacturing cost
3. Great flexibility
